James T. Pappas, Director of Photography and Field Producer
James T. Pappas is a Chicago-based Director of Photography and Field Producer with 30 years of experience in television and film.
Jim began his career in 1993 as a camera operator at WIFR-TV, the CBS affiliate in Rockford, Illinois. He worked his way up to the position of Electronic Field Production Director where he honed his skills directing and shooting commercials and promotional videos. Over the next decade he became a freelance Director of Photography and Field Producer, and held Documentary Videographer and Director of Photography positions at the Total Living Network (TLN), Towers Productions, and CNBC. In his free time he is a still photographer who shoots as a hobby, as well as competitively. He is also one of the vocalists and the bass player in the local Chicago bar band, The Rosedale Ramblin’ Band.
Jim has worked on a wide range of projects, including network series such as Gangland (History Channel), The Final Report (National Geographic Channel), Storm Stories (The Weather Channel), and Runaways (MSNBC). His work has taken him on shoots to locations around the world, including Europe, Asia, South America, Central America, Micronesia and throughout North America.
